Erika Fraley- September 2021 Member of the Month

Name: Erika Fraley
When did you join Cornerstone Nutrition? August 2020
What is your occupation? Office Administrator for Fraley Excavating
What is your favorite way to workout? I’ve honestly tried so many avenues of working out but
nothing challenges or interests me more than Crossfit. I also really enjoy walking/hiking and
playing volleyball.

What is your favorite quote? “Grace means that all of your mistakes now serve a purpose
instead of serving shame”

What have you learned through nutrition coaching? I have learned countless lessons during my
nutrition journey. But I’d say the most important thing for me, is about giving yourself grace. Life
is hard and is meant to be enjoyed, not dreaded. Hitting personal goals for yourself is important
but not as important as keeping your mental self happy and healthy. The occasional pizza, ice
cream, and mimosas at brunch won’t break you. But, inconsistency and not having a plan will.

What is the biggest thing you’ve changed that has most led to your success? I’ve made major
changes in mindset during my time with Laura as my nutrition coach. She has really helped me
understand my relationship with food, discover my triggers, and develop coping skills for my
anxiety. We are continuously tapping into so many aspects of my life other than nutrition and put
focus on my wellbeing as a whole. I’ve finally broken all the chains of shame, embarrassment,
and disappointment that I’ve accrued over my life. I feel free.

What advice do you have for someone considering nutrition coaching? I’ve been a part of the
Cornerstone community for 5 years, and I can honestly say that I didn’t see significant progress
until I took control of my nutrition in the last year. I thought committing to my nutrition meant
starving myself, constantly counting and doing math (which I hate), and having to deprive myself
of things I love. I was completely wrong. I’ve educated myself about food, learned how to love
myself and my body, and I’ve gained so much confidence in all areas of my life. My advice
would be… Ask questions, find a coach that you click with but know will challenge you, trust and
be honest in the process, and invest in YOU. Make yourself a priority because at the end of the
day, you are your longest commitment.
